Bead Star 2011

I would like to say a big congratulations to my Aunt Sheila, who placed third in the glass category in the 2011 Bead Star contest!  She is a talented lampwork artist and jewelry designer, and her bracelet, "Batik Sarong"  definitely deserved the honor!  Here is a photo of her bracelet, and if you'd like to check out her other awesome beads and jewelry, go to  http://www.etsy.com/shop/stonedesignsbysheila.  Well, what are you waiting for? Go!

I just found out about this cool Bead Soup Blog Party...It sounds really fun!  The participants are picked at random, and I hope I get picked!  It's a bead exchange, then you post what you make on your blog for everyone to see.  I want to play!

It's Bead Star time again! Please go vote for your favorites! I have two pieces of jewelry that made it as finalists: "Blush" necklace in the pearls category, and "Moulin Rouge" bracelet in the plastics category, made with my handmade polymer clay beads. My Aunt Sheila also has two pieces in the finalists: "Batik Sarong" bracelet in the glass category, and "Heart's Desire" in the heart design category. Both of her bracelets are made with her fabulous lampwork glass beads.http://www.beadingdaily.com/content/BeadStar2011.aspx

I had a blast coming up with this new cuff design...It's kind of Earthy and rustic sprinkled with sparkle from the crystals. A cool combo...

Here's my first attempt at a steam punk piece of jewelry...'not usually my thing, but I found these gear charms and thought I'd give it a shot. I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

Will Winter never end here in Washington? I just keep sitting here making jewelry, watching the rain and listening to the wind! Here's a new wire wrapped cuff design that I came up with this morning using another one of my Auntie Sheila's amazing lampwork beads. If the weather can't act like Spring, I guess my jewelry will have to!
